Son Was Diagnosed With Stage III Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?
Question by Emma: Son was diagnosed with Stage III Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?
Hello, I am mom to 2 boys ages 5 and 3. My oldest son was having fevers that wouldn’t go away and he was loosing weight. I took him to his pediatrician and he didn’t find anything wrong and sent us home on Antibiotics. The fevers would still not go away and I was starting to notice his neck was swelling. I took him to his pediatrician again and he sent Luke to have the lymph node biopsied at our local children’s hospital. We got a call back and were told we needed to take him in immediately because it was cancer! We were devastated and scared out of our minds. They ran a few more tests and scans and found more tumors. The cancer originally started in his spleen. Luke had surgery to remove the tumors. The surgeon was amazing and they were able to get all the cancerous lymph nodes out, but unable to remove the entire tumor from his spleen. When the final pathology report came in, on August 2nd, he was diagnosed with Stage III Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We were referred to St.Jude’s and we were accepted. my son, my husband, and myself have just landed in Memphis. I have not been able to sleep at all. This is all so terrifying. We will be going straight to St.Jude from here and we will be staying in The Grizzly House for these first few days. He will be having a PORT inserted on Wednesday.
Does anyone on here have any experience with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma? What about with St.Jude? What should I expect? I’m so scared!
Thank you,
Emma.

I’ve heard nothing but good about St Jude’s. My friend said, as an adult, getting a port wasn’t too bad but avoiding all those needle sticks was great.
