My Soon-to-Be Ex-Husband Wants to Do True Shared Custody With Our Toddler (50/50) and I Don’t. Do I HAVE To?
Question by Jewels: My soon-to-be ex-husband wants to do true shared custody with our toddler (50/50) and I don’t. Do I HAVE to?
I am totally fine with joint custody and I am willing to re-address the shared custody arrangements when our daughter is older (like around 4 or 5). I just think she is too young to be shlepped back and forth every few days. We live in Tennessee and I am not sure what the rules are – a friend told me that BOTH parents have to agree to shared custody for a judge to approve. Obviously there are no violence/drug/addiction issues – we are both great parents, just horrible spouses 😉

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough (a few of the responses were a bit hostile and/or stupid) – I totally support joint custody with the father, I am just not sure about shared custody (which is a TYPE of joint custody).

My friend has an 8 year old girl with her ex. They have been doing this since the girl was 2 years of age. I think it’s better early than later. The children adjust better to going back and forth. She is a happy child, both are wonderful parents but horrible spouses.
What do you think? Answer below!
