Question by Lady: Should Democrats respond in-kind by attacking Cindy McCain?
The Tennessee GOP cracks me up. First the ad with Obama’s middle name and that picture of him in Somali elder garb, all apparently trying to paint him as a Muslim. Now they attack his wife by playing one repetitive sound-clip that most intelligent people know doesn’t mean what they’re framing it as (that she hates her country – Good grief).
Do you think the Democrats should respond by running ads about Cindy McCain’s drug addiction and defrauding of her charity? Or John’s affair with her? Or should they “lay off the wife,” and stick to the issues?
My guess is they’ll take the classy road, and we won’t see any commercials exploiting Cindy McCain’s past indiscretions.
(But seriously, the TN GOP needs to get a wrench, tighten it up.)
Wasn’t it enough that she trashed and defrauded a charity to nurse her addiction to prescription pills?
So now it’s worse in this country to say that you haven’t always been proud of its actions, than to be a pill-head? Wow.
I thought we lived in a free society where we’re not forced to be in agreeance or “proud” 100% of the time. It makes it sound like communist Russia to suggest that any comment not lauding the greatness of America is reason to brand one a traitor and send her to the gulag. She made one badly-phrased comment alluding to the fact that for the first time in her adult life, young people and other demographics were turning out to vote in record numbers, actually taking an interest in the political process. We all know that’s been a problem for years!
Absinthe – I disagree, if you don’t like something about your country you should work to change it, not leave. That’s the way America was set up. We don’t all have to agree, and someone will always be displeased with something (remember “You can’t please all the people all the time”?).
So please, don’t suggest that anyone leave – it’s the most un-American thing I can imagine.

No, but the war analogy is not a particular useful one. Wars have defined ends, and we know that even if we were to prevent all drug use from happening among today's generations, we'd still have to educate the next generation about the dangers of drugs.
